We started as PEKUMA-Young Economists Challenge (PYEC) which is organised by Persatuan Ekonomi University Malaya (PEKUMA). We are a fully student-run event to serve as a networking platform for students and professionals to share ideas and knowledge of economics.

In 2016, we changed our name from PEKUMA-Young Economists Challenge (PYEC) to  National Young Economists Summit (NYES). Undergraduate students with or without economics knowledge from all over Malaysia are welcomed to join our event. 

 

NYES has experienced a great transformation from a complete physical event into a virtual event. NYES 2021, our first virtual event was held due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

In 2022, we were thrilled to rebrand our event and recreate our logo. Although this is a significant change, our core beliefs have not changed. Over the past few months, we have created a new image with all our heart and soul, accurately describing who we are and the core of our team. Universiti Malaya Economics Summit (UMES), a better representative to promote the identity as part of the events of Universiti Malaya. In the spirit of rebranding, we really hope to take this opportunity to enhance our influence through potential branches, thereby increasing external publicity.
